Definition
In centrally heated buildings, the cost of fuel (natural gas, coal, fuel oil) and heating that is shared among the independent units.
In centrally heated buildings, the fuel cost is usually tracked separately from dues. It is shared according to the management plan, the owners' assembly's decision and, if the building is fitted with heat cost allocators, measured consumption. It is common to set aside a common share, independent of consumption, for heating the common areas and for system losses.
Collecting a fuel advance to spread high winter bills over the months and charging the difference at the end of the season based on actual consumption are frequently used methods.
