Annex (Eklenti)

Also known as: appurtenance, storage room, coal cellar, depo

Definition

Under Turkish condominium law, a space outside an independent unit but allocated to it on the title deed, such as a storage room, coal cellar, garden plot or parking space.

An annex is considered an extension of the independent unit and is transferred together with it; it cannot be sold separately. A numbered storage room in the basement, a garden allocated to a unit, or an enclosed parking space attached to the unit on the title deed are typical examples.

An annex should not be confused with a common area: for an area to count as an annex, it must be allocated to that independent unit on the title deed or in the condominium project. A right of use granted only by decision of the assembly does not turn a common area into an annex.
