Periodic elevator inspection (Asansör periyodik kontrolü)

Also known as: elevator label, lift inspection, elevator inspection, red label

Definition

The annual inspection by authorized inspection bodies in Turkey that checks whether elevators can be used safely.

Under the Regulation on Elevator Operation, Maintenance and Periodic Inspection, elevators are inspected once a year by type A inspection bodies authorized by the relevant authority. After the inspection, a colored label showing the elevator's status is attached: green (safe), blue (minor defects), yellow (defective) and red (unsafe).

An elevator with a red label is taken out of service; other defects must also be remedied within the set period. Separately from the periodic inspection, the elevator must be regularly (usually monthly) maintained by an authorized service company.

Having the inspection and maintenance carried out is the management's responsibility; the cost is a common expense.
