Shelter (Sığınak)
Definition
A protected space built for shelter in war and emergencies, mandatory in certain buildings according to the conditions in Turkish legislation.
Shelters are common areas and are for the use of all unit owners. Which buildings must have a shelter, and its specifications, are determined by zoning and shelter legislation.
In peacetime, shelters may be used for purposes such as storage; however, they must be kept in a state that allows them to be cleared quickly and returned to their actual purpose when needed. Leaving a shelter to the private use of one unit owner or incorporating it into an independent unit may breach the legislation.
